NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- On Friday, December 5, the City of North Myrtle Beach will recognize Arbor Day.
The Driftwood Garden Club will be planting a tree in the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex at the end of Champions Boulevard. A live oak (Quercus Virginiana) will be planted,
The event will take place at 10:00 AM, and it will be in special honor of Susie Chestnut Bellamy.
National Arbor Day is celebrated on the first Friday of April; however, South Carolina celebrates the first Friday of December. According to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, this is the ideal time to plant trees in our state.
