NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The City of North Myrtle Beach announces the retirement of two long-serving and highly respected members of the Planning & Development Department: Delane Stevens, Building Official, and John Hill, Assistant Building Official. Both individuals leave behind legacies marked by decades of dedicated public service, deep professional expertise, and a steadfast commitment to the North Myrtle Beach community.
After 25 years of devoted service, Delane Stevens, Building Official, has retired. Reflecting on his career, he shared, “I am incredibly grateful for everything the City has done for me and my family over the years. It has been a privilege to work alongside so many talented and supportive colleagues—many of whom I now consider friends. I look forward to staying connected and wish everyone continued success and happiness.”
Assistant Building Official, John Hill, also retires after 20 years with the City. “My deepest and sincerest gratitude to the City of North Myrtle Beach for allowing me the privilege to serve. I am grateful for the experience, support, and guidance that has enhanced my personal and professional growth. The opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and be part of an exceptional team is what I will miss the most. As my tenure ends, it has been an honor to represent the City and serve this community. My best wishes to the City and the Building Department for a bright and successful future,” he shared.
As the City bids a fond farewell to these two leaders, we are pleased to announce the promotion of Bradley Hardee to the position of Building Official.
Born and raised in Loris, S.C., Bradley brings a strong background in both the private and public sectors. After starting in the construction industry with his family’s company in 2006, he became a licensed General Contractor in 2011. He entered public service in 2015 with Horry County Code Enforcement, eventually becoming Chief Building Inspector. He joined the City of North Myrtle Beach in 2021 as a Master Building Inspector and has since played a key role in plan review and departmental operations.
Bradley holds certifications as a Certified Building Official, Certified Floodplain Manager, and Licensed General Contractor. He is also highly trained in damage assessment related to natural disasters.
Away from the office, Bradley enjoys spending time with his wife, Emmy Hardee—a North Myrtle Beach native—and their two children. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and coaching his daughter’s softball team.
“We are grateful for the years of leadership and service from our outgoing Building Official and Assistant Building Official,” said Interim City Manager Ryan Fabbri. “We are equally excited to welcome Bradley Hardee into this important role as we continue to support the growth and safety of our community.”
