NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for our area from 11 AM Saturday, July 26, through 8 PM Sunday, July 27.
Heat index values could reach up to 111°F, increasing the risk of heat-related illness for anyone spending extended time outdoors or without access to air conditioning.
While hot and humid summers are typical in North Myrtle Beach, this period of heat poses a serious risk—particularly to vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, young children, and those who work outdoors.
Community Safety Tips:
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water—even if you do not feel thirsty.
- Avoid strenuous outdoor activity.
- Never leave children or pets in vehicles.
- Check on elderly neighbors and those without air conditioning.
