[ARCHIVED] City of NMB Hiring Lifeguards

Lifeguards-2023

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – How would you like to have every workday be a beach day? It's possible. The City of North Myrtle Beach is actively hiring lifeguards for the 2023 summer season.

Lifeguards work May through October along nine miles of beautiful sand in North Myrtle Beach. North Myrtle Beach Ocean Rescue Officers are visiting colleges across the Southeast recruiting lifeguards and hiring J-1 Visa students.

The City provides paid training (United States Lifesaving Association), paid certifications, and uniforms. Training typically takes around 10 days starting in the classroom, then moving to the beach.

Pay starts at $16 per hour and every day is like being on vacation.

Strong swimmers that can swim 500 meters in 10 minutes or less are needed. Lifeguards patrolling the beach will assist with several activities including, first aid, water rescues, and helping find children that are separated from their family members.

Check out the link below to watch some amazing videos of what you can expect during lifeguard training and the daily activities. The NMB Ocean Rescue YouTube section also includes tips on how to pass the swimming test.
